As we are getting busy buying gifts and expecting gifts, it can become stressful as we are trying to make sure this Christmas is enjoyable for us, our family, and our friends. But we must not forget the real reason for the season.
The greatest gift ever given
When thinking about what gifts to give to our friends, and to our loved ones. We think about what is the best gift we could give? What will be useful, satisfactory, and/or enjoyable to that person. And we ourselves remembering from previous Christmas, great gifts we have received and how glad we were, and how thankful we were for that person.
But above all these gifts you have received and all other gifts you will receive, you have been given the greatest gift ever, the greatest gift to mankind. That gift is the Lord, the Messiah. He is the greatest gift ever given because by trusting in Him alone, we are at peace with God the Father and we have eternal life. For we know that by trusting in Him alone for salvation, and believing in our hearts and confessing with our mouths that He is the Son of God we are saved and have eternal life. It is the greatest gift ever because it is indeed a gift since we do not become right in God’s eyes by our good deeds and ceremonies but by our trust in His son.
What is Christmas about?
This Christmas as with all Christmas, we remember the birth of our Lord and Savior and reflect on how great a gift we have been given.
As we remember and reflect, let us also await His return and seek to know who He is more and more day by day.
Merry Christmas! And rejoice in the company of your friends and family but mostly rejoice in knowing what great gift you have been given already.
